Internship and BIM, an intern’s view
Jason Henson, Assoc. AIA, an intern with HKS, Dallas, describes how mastering building information modeling by using Revit software at his first professional job has enabled him to make significant contributions to his firm and his own professional development.

H. Edward Goldberg, AIA
With more than 30 years’ experience as an architect and industrial designer, Ed Goldberg, AIA, is one of the leading authorities on architectural technology. He writes extensively on technology in CADALYST, Architecture Business & Economics, and the Inside AutoCAD newsletter.

Will BIM Be the Death of Design?
We heard an interesting remark recently from a fellow architect regarding building information modeling (BIM). “BIM will be the death of design,” was the charge. “It will turn us from architects into technicians.” Well, we’ve all heard this kind of charge before. The answer, essentially, is that technology will never overcome human creativity.
Share Your Thoughts

In reference to this week’s practice story, “Building Commissioning Allows Testing for Sustainability,” once a design team completes a sustainable project, do you think the architects are most likely to:

Consider it, “Out of sight out of mind”
Make informal inquiries with building owners about performance data
Have it reviewed by building commissioners
Require building owners to report back performance data to their office.
