Sustainability the Straw that Stirs Las Vegas’ Springs Preserve
Non-gaming attraction celebrates Las Vegas’ natural resources, history
Green living and green building are the theme of the new Las Vegas Springs Preserve, a 180-acre, $250 million cultural attraction located off the Las Vegas Strip on a natural springs site. The Preserve is composed of 11 buildings constructed of environmentally friendly, recycled, or re-used materials; Las-Vegas based Lucchesi and Galati Architects is the primary designer.

Quadrant ER design means no waiting for 45,000 patients a year
You won’t be asked to have a seat at the new University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics Emergency Treatment Center (ETC), a 70,000-square-foot trauma center employing a four-quadrant design for 24-hour staffing and no patient waiting. The Chicago office of RTKL Associates used computer simulations based on real-time patient data to develop staffed quadrants that will open as patients are expected to arrive, ensuring immediate patient attention in private rooms.

Virginia’s AIA Richmond Chapter Honors Three Award-Winning Firms with Six Awards
AIA Richmond is pleased to announce the award recipients from this year’s AIA Richmond Chapter Honors and Awards program. Chosen from among 161 submissions, the six award-winning projects all are located in Richmond. Local architects BCWH pulled off the hat trick this year with three awards, 3North Architects captured two awards, and SMBW received one award this year.
