  AIA Member Covenant Clarifies Expectations of Members, Organization
The Member Covenant, which the AIA Board adopted at its September meeting, is intended to be a living document that addresses the expectations of members in terms of services, benefits, and costs as well as the expectations of the organization regarding an active and participatory volunteer membership. AIA Executive Vice President/CEO Christine McEntee notes, “The desired outcome is a long and mutually beneficial relationship among all the partners of the professional community that is the AIA.”

H3 Creates New Home for New York Academy of Sciences
The New York Academy of Sciences, going strong at 189 years, has moved its cramped quarters in a century-old Upper West Side mansion into H3-designed state-of-the-art offices on the 40th floor of 7 World Trade Center, two blocks from where it was born in 1819.

AIA, KIA Renew Friendship Accord
AIA President Kate Schwennsen, FAIA, signed the first renewal of the AIA-Korean Institute of Architects Accord on Professionalism in Architecture on November 13, in Seoul, with her Korean counterpart, Yong Byun. The accord, first signed by then-AIA President John D Anderson, FAIA, in 2001, has intensified the pace and range of interactions between the two associations.


National Associates Committee Holds Essay Contest

Short entries due December 11

Forward, the quarterly journal of the AIA National Associates Committee, invites everyone to enter its essay contest, the results of which will be published in the winter 2007 issue, which will address community development. The contest asks you to write about a place that influenced your decision to become part of the architecture profession—be it a building, block, neighborhood, or even a city.
