R/UDAT and SDAT reports from the
1960s to the present now online in .pdf format
The AIA Communities by Design web site now features digital
copies of all the existing reports from the 1960s to the present
of both the Regional/Urban Design Assistance Team (R/UDAT) program
and the Sustainable Design Assessment Team (SDAT) program. Both
R/UDAT and SDAT are AIA programs that bring together architect-led
multidisciplinary teams to identify ways to encourage desirable
change in a community.
The AIA established the R/UDAT program in 1967. The SDAT program
was created in 2005 to provide community design assistance that focuses
on the principles of sustainability. In addition to the national
level program, components have adopted this model. Communities looking
to see how similar issues and challenges have been addressed will
find these reports of interest. Some reports have been revisited
and readers can compare initial planning and subsequent efforts.
