With a Wink to Big City Urbanism, NYLO Puts Boutique Hotels Deep in the Exurban Belt
Hotels are part pre-design, part custom craft
The new chain of NYLO Hotels cropping up in suburbs across the nation combine contextual geographic motifs with urban loft materials and forms. They all contain a custom-designed recreation and lounge space, but the guest rooms and façade of each hotel is a pre-designed template that resembles the diverse urban fabric of large industrial cities. NYLO’s newest hotel will be in Broomfield, Colo., and it’s been designed by Studios Architecture.
From Demise, New Life for L.L. Bean
Wood and steel from demolished building provide structure for new store
As the mythical phoenix rises from its ashes, so too L.L. Bean’s new Hunting and Fishing store was birthed largely from the remains of its aged predecessor. The newest building on the 200,000-square-foot campus is the Hunting and Fishing store, designed by Sean Selby, AIA, an associate with Arrowstreet in Somerville, Mass. Recently LEED® Silver certified, the store is the first LEED certified retail project in the state and one of nine LEED registered projects for the company. |
