Presenting the AIA’s 2007 Small Projects Awards
AIA Small Project Practitioners chose eight projects to receive 2007 Small Projects Awards, which promote excellence in small-project design. The awards program, now in its third year, emphasizes the excellence of small-project design and strives to raise public awareness of the value and design excellence that architects bring to all projects, regardless of the size and scope. Each entry is judged for the success with which the project meets its individual intent and requirements. Entries are weighed individually, not in competition with each other.

HOK Master Plans $300 Million Mixed-Use in Atlanta
Site builds on Portman structure and plan
The Atlanta office of HOK is developing a comprehensive $300 million master plan for the Riverwood mixed-use development in northwest Atlanta. Working with the developer, Seven Oaks Company, HOK is expanding upon the existing 100 Riverwood Class A Office Building that was designed by John Portman. The new master plan will create integrated residential, retail, hotel, and office spaces.

New York City Condominiums to Evoke Traditional Loft Aesthetic Through Modern Expression
New luxury lofts in lower Manhattan’s SoHo district capture feel, fenestrations of bygone cast-iron era
New York City-based Gwathmey Siegel & Associates Architects has designed SoHo Mews, a residential condominium in New York City’s SoHo Historic District, as a modern tribute to the distinctive cast iron architectural history of this revered location in downtown Manhattan. The two-building project consists of a nine-story structure and an eight-story structure, with a shared courtyard mews between each. The 175,000-square-foot project will offer 5,000 square feet of commercial space and 68 luxury loft units. Construction began last May.
