National Associates Committee Holds Essay Contest

Short entries due December 11

Forward, the quarterly journal of the AIA National Associates Committee, invites everyone to enter its essay contest. The results will be published in the winter 2007 issue, which will address community development. The contest asks you to write about a place that influenced your decision to become part of the architecture profession—be it a building, block, neighborhood, or even a city. Essays should be 100-200 words long, with a 1- to 12-word title. A committee of Forward and AIA staff will conduct a blind review and select up to 10 finalists from all entries received. A panel of noted jurors will then select one winner and up to four honorable mentions from the finalists. Winners will receive their choice of one of a selected set of books from the AIA Book Store: E-mail your entry, in MS Word format, to Forward Director Katherine Williams by 6:00 p.m. PST on December 11. For details, visit the National Associates Committee Web site.
