AIA Convention Captures Media Coverage
On its first official day (May 9), the AIA National Convention in Charlotte already is attracting a lot of local media coverage. On the television front, FOX affiliate WCCB, Channel 18, is planning to run interviews with New York City's Barbara Nadel, FAIA, and Architectural Record Editor in Chief Robert A. Ivy, FAIA, on the subject of building security and design at 6:30 this evening. Other stations, including NBC, currently are taping security programs for possible national coverage. Full Story

AIA, Interior Design Organizations Explore Connections
Calling it a "historic opportunity" AIA President Gordon Chong, FAIA; International Interior Design Association (IIDA) President Cary Johnson, FIIDA; and American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) President Barbara Nugent, FASID, welcomed attendees from all three organizations to the Interior Design Panel Discussion May 10. The three presidents discussed the importance of collaboration between their respective memberships. In fact, Chong told the audience, despite his strict and overstuffed schedule, he broke it to attend this one convention seminar. Full Story

A Party Across Two States Under One Roof
Ericsson Stadium was alive with the Carolinas Host Chapter Party Friday night, May 10. The "Carolinas Expedition" mapped party attendees across two culturally rich and diverse states, all under one roof. Party rooms were developed with themes from the different region of the states, each complete with regional food, music, décor, and entertainment. Full Story

Fun Run Supports Habitat for Humanity
More than 140 runners took their mark early Saturday morning, May 11, to participate in the annual AIA national convention 5k Fun Run. Full Story
