Fun Run Supports Habitat for Humanity

More than 140 runners took their mark early Saturday morning, May 11, to participate in the annual AIA national convention 5k Fun Run. Starting just a few blocks from the convention center, the race wound through Uptown Charlotte and ended a little over three miles later on Tryon Street. Volunteers were on hand to provide race participants with plenty of water and some extra encouragement to carry them to the finish line.

First, second, and third place awards were presented to both male and female winners in the overall race, top AIA Convention runners, and several different age group categories. The overall male winner was Louis Anderson with a time of 18 minutes 21 seconds. Anita Charleston was the overall female winner with a time of 22 minutes and 37 seconds. A complete list of 5k winners, as well as personal results are available on www.runcharlotte.com.

A portion proceeds from race entry fees will go to benefit the Charlotte Habitat for Humanity.
