AIA Convention Captures Media Coverage

On its first official day (May 9), the AIA National Convention in Charlotte already is attracting a lot of local media coverage. On the television front, FOX affiliate WCCB, Channel 18, is planning to run interviews with New York City's Barbara Nadel, FAIA, and Architectural Record Editor in Chief Robert A. Ivy, FAIA, on the subject of building security and design at 6:30 this evening. Other stations, including NBC, currently are taping security programs for possible national coverage.

The convention is also prompting and encouraging a public discussion about Charlotte's architecture and the transformation of its built environment. The following is a list of stories that have been posted by North Carolina's news and business organizations.

"Architect's Convention Puts Charlotte on Display," by Richard Maschal (also posted on NBC6.com)

"Towers, Trees and More: Charlotte's Best, Worst." The Charlotte Observer asked some local architects about the city's built environment.

"Architects and the City," an editorial on Charlotte's built environment by the Charlotte Observer.

"National Architecture Convention Puts Area Structures on Display," by Greater Charlotte Biz

"Architects in Charlotte for Major Conference," by WFAE 90.7 FM (local NPR station)

"Architects in Town for National Convention," by WSOC-TV (CBS affiliate)
