  AIA Upjohn Applied Research Grant Submissions Due September 1
Through the Upjohn Research Grants, the AIA Board Knowledge Committee and College of Fellows will provide base matching funds for applied research projects that advance professional knowledge and practice. The AIA seeks proposals, due Sept. 1, for research projects to be completed in 18 months beginning December 1, 2009, and will award up to four grants between $15,000 and $30,000 each, for selected projects.

AIA Awards Deadlines Are Here
As a final reminder, August 28, 2009, is the deadline for submissions to the AIA Honor Awards. The deadline for the Institute Honors for Professional Achievement will be October 9, 2009, and the deadline for Honorary Membership is December 11, 2009. Also note, the AIA Collaborative Achievement Award and Thomas Jefferson Awards for Public Architecture are now selected annually rather than semi-annually.

A Guided Tour of the Redesigned AIA.org
Earlier this year, the national AIA component launched a redesigned Web presence that allows members to post material highlighting their firm’s expertise, quick links to those areas members and the public most commonly use, and a revamped search function, among many other new features. Join Content Management Systems Director Ann Banchoff as she demonstrates how to navigate this revamped knowledge resource.

Sessions on Technology, Sustainability Introduced at AAJ Conference
The AIA Academy of Architecture for Justice (AAJ) will hold its 2009 fall conference, Beyond the Horizon: The Next Generation of Justice, October 7–10 in Chicago. The AAJ conference brings together judges, court executives, architects, government leaders, builders, sheriffs, and police chiefs to focus on the emerging trends in justice-facility planning and design. This year's highlights will also include the Justice Facilities Review Awards Banquet at the new Renzo Piano-designed Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Upcoming Diversity, Inclusion Programs
Diversity Recognition submissions are due September 16, the Women's Leadership Summit is September 25-26, and the annual conference of the National Organization of Minority Architects is October 8-10.
