Sessions on Technology, Sustainability Introduced at AAJ Conference
Conference scheduled for Oct 7–10 at the Wyndham Chicago

Summary: The AIA Academy of Architecture for Justice (AAJ) will hold its 2009 fall conference, Beyond the Horizon: The Next Generation of Justice, October 7–10 in Chicago. The AAJ conference brings together judges, court executives, architects, government leaders, builders, sheriffs, and police chiefs to focus on the emerging trends in justice-facility planning and design. This year's highlights will also include the Justice Facilities Review Awards Banquet at the new Renzo Piano-designed Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago.

New technology and sustainability sessions
To the traditional tracks on courthouses, law enforcement, and correction/detention facilities, this 8th annual AAJ conference adds two new elements. A technical track will focus on acoustics, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and building information modeling. The AAJ Sustainable Justice Committee also will present a closing workshop on justice-specific sustainability issues.

The host hotel, the Wyndham Chicago, North Side, is one block away from Michigan St. and the city’s Magnificent Mile. Early-registration discounts remain in effect until August 21, 2009. For more information and to register, visit the conference Web site. If you have further questions about this event, contact Jessica Pearce.
