AIA Women’s Leadership Summit
The first national gathering of women firm principals and others in professional leadership roles will discuss the talents necessary to achieve leadership positions and experiences they have faced while rising within the profession. Following the opening keynote address by past AIA president Kate Schwennsen, FAIA (pictured in the banner), panel discussions and breakout sessions—and the action plan that results—will be tailored to individual participants’ concerns. The program will cover the gamut of concerns affecting women in the profession today: equity, identifying leaders, leadership styles, visioning and strategic planning, next-generation leadership, design quality from the owner's point of view, design successes and challenges, and design excellence.
NOMA 2009 Annual Conference
The National Organization of Minority Architects 2009 annual conference is in St. Louis October 8-10. Join a thousand of your professional colleagues for “IMPACT: Creating New Ideas to Bridge the Gaps,” to share and celebrate the latest developments in architecture, engineering, planning, landscape design, contracting and building, urban design, interior design, building operations and maintenance, green or sustainable design, and downtown revitalization and economic development. The conference respects the core aspirations of the original 12 founders of NOMA, who in, 1971 ambitiously set a course for expanding the academic and professional horizons for a more diverse pool of students and professionals to be successful now and into the future.
To develop and enhance the AIA and NOMA cooperative efforts, the two organizations entered into a memorandum of understanding in April 2009 which includes increased activity at both organizations’ annual conventions. |
