Cleveland Eyes 100 Acres for Waterfront Redevelopment
From the mouth of the Cuyahoga and east along Lake Erie, the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority has a master-plan to turn the aging industrial wasteland into a thriving, mixed-use connection of the existing neighborhoods and business districts to their long-lost waterfront. The authority selected Ehrenkrantz Eckstut & Kuhn Architects to create the plan to reinvent the city’s image as a thriving lakefront destination.

Warner Bros. Green Sound Stage First for Major Hollywood Studio
Warner Bros. Entertainment in Burbank, Calif., recently completed what is said to be the first green sound stage built by a major Hollywood studio. The company’s 21,600-square-foot Stage 23 is pending LEED™ certification and incorporates numerous sustainable elements including use of sustainable, reused, and recycled construction materials and a solar electrical system now being installed. Warner Bros. Corporate Real Estate group and Construction Services departments were project managers, and HLW International was the project architect.

Safdie Gives Kansas City Its Newest Cultural Landmark
The new Kauffman Center for Performing Arts designed by Moshe Safdie & Associates, with BNIM Associates, Associate Architects, aims to reaffirm the role of the arts in public life, and to give Kansas City, Mo., a pair of world-class performance venues.
