Letters to the Editor

Summary: This week, we have a clarification about building in New Orleans and a kvetch about the AIArchitect poll.

Re: Louisiana Cancer Research Center Rises Above Post-Katrina New Orleans

Clarification: In our story on the new Louisiana Cancer Research Center, we were remiss in not pointing out that in addition to this project there are many other major projects underway in the post-Hurricane Katrina rebuild. To name two: the National WWII Museum expansion, with theater expansion by Voorsanger Architects and the Eisenhower Tower by Exkew+Dumez+Ripple and the C.J. Peete public housing complex, by McCormack Baron Salazar, KAI Design and Build, and the New Orleans Neighborhood Development Collaborative—which broke ground on January 9. We apologize if the article gave the impression of underplaying New Orleans’ restoration efforts.

Re: The Poll: Are you going to take time off to watch the Obama inauguration January 20?
A survey question regarding the swearing-in of Obama is a waste of time but an excellent portrayal of the AIA’s activities and mindset.

Ed. note: Readers: Do you agree? Any suggestions for poll topics? Or should we ditch the poll as a feature? Let us know.
