Two Residential Design Awards Programs Go Paperless

Summary: The AIA Housing Awards and the AIA/HUD Secretary Awards, due December 14, now have an easy-to-follow electronic submission process that cuts down on unnecessary paper. Before beginning the process, submitters are encouraged to try out the AIA’s online tutorial. All entries will be made online to the new AIA awards submission Web site.

AIA Housing Awards: Submissions and fees are due December 14 for the AIA Housing and Custom Residential Knowledge Community’s 2008 AIA Housing Awards program, which emphasizes the importance of housing as a necessity for life, sanctuary for the human spirit, and valuable national resource. Awards are presented in four categories: single family, multifamily, design innovation, and community design. (Pictured is the Ranch House in the San Juan Mountains, Telluride, Colo. AIA/HUD Secretary’s Awards: Submissions and fees for the 2008 AIA/HUD Secretary’s Awards also are due December 14. This program of the AIA Housing and Custom Residential Knowledge Community and the Office of the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development recognizes excellence in housing and community design. Program categories are mixed-use/mixed-income development, community building by design, and the Alan J. Rothman Housing Accessibility Award.
