UNM Albuquerque Gets New School of Arch and Planning
Native son Antoine Predock designs for his former campus
The University of New Mexico’s School of Architecture and Planning (SAP) and Fine Arts and Design Library is under construction and slated to be completed this fall. Designed by AIA 2006 Gold Medal recipient Antoine Predock, FAIA, the building fronts historic Route 66 in Albuquerque and forms a monumental new gateway to the university.

New Jersey Pilot House Earns Platinum Certification
A one-family house with integrated solar technology and metal roofing system in Patterson, N.J., has earned a Platinum score from the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED®-H rating system, making it the first single-family residence on the East Coast and second in the country to earn Platinum certification. The public/private Partnership for Advanced Housing Technology (PATH) and BASF partnered to demonstrate how advanced industrial innovation can help build homes that are better for their residents and the environment.

Committee on Design Hosts “Rejuvenation of American Cities on the Water” Conference
Event takes place in Miami, April 12–15

The AIA Committee on Design will host a conference exploring the current urban landscapes of Miami and future design opportunities around Miami and its waterways in Miami, April 12–15. Specifically, the conference will explore how design choices act as a catalyst for a city's rejuvenation, the relationship between sustainable design and community, and how renewed interest in the environment affects the style and substance of architecture. Tours will include special access to the Miami Art Museum and new Federal Courthouse and a behind-the-scenes peek at the new Carnival Center for the Performing Arts.
