Sited: Finding Free WiFi
Here is a travel tip from the AIA national component’s Senior PC/LAN Specialist
Phil Cook: You are traveling on AIA business, and thanks to the new TSA regulations,
you probably will arrive at the airport one to two hours early. Check this Web
site for a list of airports
offering free WiFi service and spend your hour or so waiting for your boarding
call by answering e-mails on your laptop and checking your favorite Web sites.
You can also check your destination city for hotels
that offer free Wi-Fi or even for RV parks and campgrounds, rental properties,
restaurants, retail stores, and other Wi-Fi hot spots around the country. Now,
with any luck, you are already staying at a location with free Wi-Fi Internet
access, or one is just
a short stroll away.

Professional Liability—Know Your Options!
Summary of the AIA Professional Liability Insurance Survey
A well designed insurance program is key to a successful design practice,
and professional liability insurance is one of the most significant
elements of your insurance program, writes William J. Nichols, Assoc.
AIA, a partner with NBBJ. The AIA Risk Management Committee, in collaboration
with the AIA Trust, the National Society of Professional Engineers
(NSPE), and the American Committee of Engineering Companies (ACEC),
conducted its comprehensive annual survey to collect information
from the leading carriers who provide professional liability insurance
to architects and engineers. A joint meeting was held in Chicago
in October 2006 to interview representatives from most of these carriers.
This summary discusses those findings and risk management trends
for 2007.
