Two AIA Fellows Receive 2007 Jefferson Award
David Dixon, FAIA, Boston, and Michael A. Fitts, FAIA, Nashville, have been selected to receive the AIA 2007 Thomas Jefferson Award for Public Architecture. The biennial Thomas Jefferson Award recognizes excellence in architectural advocacy and achievement in three categories:

  • Private-sector architects who have established a portfolio of accomplishment in the design of architecturally distinguished public facilities
  • Public-sector architects who manage or produce quality design within their agencies
  • Public officials or other individuals who by their role of advocacy have furthered the public’s awareness and/or appreciation of design excellence. (No award was given in this category for 2007.)

Ten Honored by the Institute for Distinguished Contributions to Architecture
The AIA has selected four individuals and six groups as recipients of the 2007 Institute Honors for Collaborative Achievement. The award, to be presented in May at the AIA National Convention in San Antonio, recognizes and encourages distinguished achievements of allied professionals, clients, organizations, architect teams, knowledge communities, and others who have had a beneficial influence on or advanced the architecture profession.

Call for Nominations: AIA/NAC Jason Pettigrew ARE Scholarship
Recognizing his contributions to internship, licensure, and the profession—including his own pursuit of the Architecture Registration Exam—the National Associates Committee is pleased to announce the second national ARE scholarship in honor of Jason Pettigrew, Assoc. AIA. The scholarship, sponsored by Kaplan, recognizes the significant contributions of interns at an early stage of their career and encourages them to complete licensure. The scholarship is open to Associate AIA members, IDP record holders in good standing, and architects who received their initial license in 2006. Scholarship recipients will receive a full set of Kaplan ARE Study Guides and $1,071, the current cost of the ARE. Applications, which must be in electronic format, are due to NAC on March 12, 5:00 p.m. ET. The scholarship will be awarded at the Emerging Professionals Awards Ceremony at the AIA 2007 National Convention in San Antonio on May 3. For more information, including submission requirements, visit the NAC Web site.

Six Architects Declare Candidacy for Three Offices
