Graves to Receive 2006 Victory Award
AIA Gold Medal recipient Michael Graves, FAIA, received a 2006 Victory Award from the National Rehabilitation Hospital in celebration of “the victory of the human spirit, honoring those individuals who best exemplify strength and courage in the face of physical adversity.” In 2003, Graves contracted an infection of unknown origin that left him paralyzed from the waist down, yet the architect still is active in his architecture and product design firm today. This year’s other Victory Awards recipients are actresses Terri Garr and Geri Jewell, philanthropist Monica Greenberg, and ABC news anchor Bob Woodruff, who was seriously injured by a roadside bomb explosion in Iraq earlier this year. Graves and the other honorees received their awards at a black-tie gala November 6 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C. |
