AIA Gold Medalist Ricardo Legorreta, Hon. FAIA, Dies at 80

The Mexican architect known for his exuberant, brightly colored language of Modernism died on Dec. 30. Like his former mentor Luis Barragan, his buildings developed a Latin American regional aesthetic that has proven extremely influential in the half century since he founded his firm, and the 12 years since he received the AIA Gold Medal.
