New Orleans is taking a hard look at how to revitalize its neighborhoods, and in this case, the disposition of a freeway built 45 years ago over Claiborne Avenue, one of the city’s most beloved boulevards.
In 1944, Stephen Scott Ferebee parachuted into Normandy as part of the historic D-Day invasion. Sixty-seven years later, he will be honored at the National WWII Museum in New Orleans for that accomplishment as well as his many contributions to the architectural profession during a long career, which included serving as AIA President.
A scale model of the 300,000-square-foot campus will be unveiled at the 2011 AIA New Orleans host chapter party on Friday, May 13, at the National WWII Museum.
