Clark Manus, FAIA, 2011 AIA President, reads a citation in honor of the life and career of Scott Ferebee, FAIA, the oldest living AIA president.

Scott Ferebee, FAIA, is a decorated World War II veteran, having served on the European front during the D-Day invasion of France.

The citation 2011 AIA President Clark Manus, FAIA, read to Gold Medalist Fumihiko Maki, Hon. FAIA, praised his work for, "Refining the vocabulary of Modernism to the essentials of child-like wonder in the presence of the new."

Keynote speaker and urban strategist Jeb Brugmann urged his audience to become more engaged in urban planning as early as possible. "Strategic design allows architects a chance for engagement in new ways," he said.
