Thank you for staying connected to our knowledge community! We are passionate about sharing information and our growing library of design evidence that promote innovations in the built environment which enhance quality of life for an aging society.

My name is Dodd Kattman, AIA, and I am honored to serve as co-chair of the DFA Knowledge Community Advisory Group.  It is important to all of us that we act as agents of positive change, and we can best accomplish this goal by staying connected.  I encourage you to share our goals and resources with other well-intended designers and service providers to help our community grow in numbers and impact. By Mimi Kehan - Arbour Square Senior Living Community of Harleysville, PA renovated and expanded their dining area in April 2013. The design upgrade was implemented in order to create more space to accommodate the increase of residents that resulted in the opening of the newly built residential building called Hillside.

Each year, the National Institute of Building Sciences hosts an Awards Reception and Dinner to recognize individuals and organizations that have provided outstanding service to the Institute, the building community and the nation. On Thursday, January 14, 2015, Institute board, staff and members honored the 2015 award winners during an annual awards ceremony at Building Innovation 2016: The Institute’s Fourth Annual Conference and Expo in Arlington, Virginia.

Announcing the Mayer-Rothschild Foundation

Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) FAQ on Home and Commuity-based Settings

CMS recently released Frequently Asked Questions and guidance on how they will review requests to build new Medicaid waiver funded Assisted Living Centers and Adult Day Centers that are collocated in a Nursing Home. The guidance also identifies the components of person-centered planning regulatory requirements that are in effect now and those that are part of the home and community-based settings transition period in effect through March 2019.
