Vegetated
Green Roof Completed on Minneapolis’ Target Center
The largest extensive green roof in Minnesota, a 2.5-acre vegetated
green roof on the Target Center in Minneapolis, was recently completed.
The roof was a collaboration of the Minneapolis office of Leo A Daly,
the architect/engineer of record; Kestrel Design Group, a Minneapolis-based
landscape architecture firm; and Inspec, Inc., developer of the roof
system design and leak detection system. The project involved project
management, problem solving, and teamwork in architecture, landscape
architecture, and engineering.
Report Analyzes Energy Performance of COTE Top Ten Green Projects
The 2009 Summer Research Scholarship, cosponsored by the AIA Committee
on the Environment (COTE) and American Institute of Architecture
Students (AIAS), went to Berkeley MArch candidate and graduate
student instructor Nathan Brown, who focused on calculating the
source energy performance of 28 COTE Top 10 projects and analyzing
their performance against the baseline established by the Energy
Star database of buildings with similar functions and weather conditions.
