Try CES Videos on Demand for Learning Units in a Hurry

Summary: To support member’s needs to fulfill annual CES credit requirements, and especially the new requirement that members must attain four credits of sustainable design experience, the AIA is offering free online videos to make continuing one’s professional education even easier. These easily accessible videos are ideal for members needing to gain learning units quickly before the 2008 AIA/CES Audit List deadline on Sept. 30, 2009.

Free education for AIA members
Recorded at the 2009 AIA National Convention in San Francisco, the AIA is also offering 14 online courses of convention seminars. With these 14 convention videos, AIA members can earn most of their annually required learning units—including satisfying health, safety, and welfare (HSW) and sustainable design (SD) requirements.

The Continuing Education team has assembled free on-demand video sessions on the AIA Web site offering step-by-step tutorials on 3D modeling and energy analysis tools using Open Studio, Google SketchUp, and Energy Plus. This four hour workshop qualifies for four HSW/SD learning units.

Another virtual option
The AIA is also hosting a virtual seminar in conjunction with the “Changing Times in Time for Change: Practice, Productivity, and Effectiveness” conference. Select conference presentations will explore the technological changes remaking architecture and how architects can refine the ways they work in a restrained and suffering economy. These live Web seminars are offered from September 24–26.

Additionally, the AIA/CES Survival Guide has been newly updated for 2009, featuring information on sustainable design credits, distance learning opportunities, how members can find courses, resource links, and more.
