  ICC, AIA, ASTM Begin Work on International Green Construction Code
In what’s been called one of the most far-reaching construction code initiatives in the I-Codes family in a decade, a multidisciplinary team of architects, sustainability experts, civic officials, standards writers, and code officials met in Chicago in the last week of July to begin drafting the nation’s first comprehensive green construction code for commercial buildings as a companion to the International Building Code (IBC).

Supporters of Miami Marine Stadium Raise $50,000 for Restoration Study
World Monuments Fund and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, working with a coalition of Miami organizations, recently raised $50,000 to commission an engineering study to determine restoration cost of the landmark Miami Marine Stadium, a Modernist icon in Biscayne Bay. AIA Miami has also been instrumental in the preservation efforts. The 6,500-seat grandstand stadium, currently unoccupied, is built entirely of poured concrete and features a dramatic cantilevered fold-plate roof.

Tour Highlights Wright's Prairie Houses, Guaranty Building, Richardson Towers
The Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust will host a four-day excursion from October 22 through October 25 in Buffalo to visit Frank Lloyd Wright's Prairie-style Darwin Martin Complex and Graycliff estate, the Guaranty Building by Louis Sullivan and Dankmar Adler, and the Richardson Towers by H. H. Richardson.

AIA Leadership to Host Interactive Webinars on AIA 2010–2015 Strategic Plan
George H. Miller, FAIA, 2010 president-elect, and Clark Manus, FAIA, 2010 first vice president-elect, will hold three Webinars for AIA members to present and discuss the draft of the AIA Strategic Plan for 2010–2015.
