Loos, Woodroffe in Runoff for Secretary
Delegates to the AIA national convention in Boston will vote on Saturday, May 17, 9:30–2 p.m., in a runoff election between Stephen K. Loos, AIA, (AIA Colorado North), and Enrique A. Woodroffe, FAIA, (AIA Tampa), for 2009–2010 Secretary.
Loos, a senior design architect for the Mulhern Group Ltd., says the office of secretary “is uniquely position and empowered to advance significantly both the Institute’s mission and its methods.” Loos earned a BArch from the University of Colorado at Boulder, did post-graduate work in urban planning at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom, and eventually returned to the U.S. to earn a Master’s Degree in Urban and Environmental Studies from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His Denver-based firm, the Mulhern Group, specializes in mixed-use retail and commercial projects. Loos was president of AIA Colorado North in 1998 and president of AIA Colorado in 2000. He served as secretary to the Western Mountain Regional Council from 2004 till 2005, and is a regional director of the Western Mountain area. Additionally, Loos has been a member of the Boulder Chamber of Commerce, the Denver Downtown Development Council, and the Colorado Renewable Energy Society.
Woodroffe is a current regional director representing the Florida/Caribbean region, serves as member of the AIA Secretary’s Advisory Committee (SAC), and played an active role in efforts supporting of AIA 150 and our Blueprint for America. Woodroffe’s commitment to AIA started at the University of Florida as an AIAS member. He has served AIA Tampa Bay, AIA Florida, and AIA National for over 25 years, and was elevated to the College of Fellows in 2000. Woodroffe’s AIA national service includes as AIA National Board/Florida/Caribbean Regional Director (2006–2008); the Secretary’s Advisory Committee (SAC) (2007–2008); Community by Design (2007–2008); Advocacy Committee (2006); Diversity Committee (2006–2007); and the State Government Network (1999–2000). Woodroffe’s civic service includes as Bay Area Commuter Service (BACS), Board Secretary (2006–2008); chair, Barrio Latino Design Commission; Distinguished President, Kiwanis Club of Tampa, and secretary and president, Ybor Chamber of Commerce, since 1982. He graduated with a MArch from the University of Florida. |
