AIA Contract Docs to Host “AIA 2007 Documents: An Overview” Webinar on March 18.

Summary: Back by popular demand, AIA Contract Documents will host the Web seminar, “AIA 2007 Documents: An Overview,” on March 18, from 1:00-2:30 p.m. ET. If you missed the presentation in December or are just now becoming acquainted with the AIA 2007 documents, this Webinar is for you.

The Institute revises A201TM–General Conditions of the Contract for Construction and the AIA Owner/Architect and Owner/Contractor agreements on a 10-year cycle. This presentation will provide an overview of the revisions to AIA Document A201–2007 and the 2007 Owner/Architect agreements, as well as outline the AIA’s digital practice documents, which also launched in 2007.

In addition, the presenters will discuss the concept of the Initial Decision Maker, the rationale for the new numbering system, and how AIA documents address green design. The presenters—Susan B. McClymonds, AIA, and Timothy R. Twomey, Esq., AIA, both are leaders on the AIA Documents Committee and were integrally involved in the AIA’s 2007 update. Twomey serves as the 2008 chair of the Documents Committee.
Learning objectives for the Web seminar are for participants to:

  • Understand the pros and cons of the issues addressed in the revisions and appreciate the implications they will have for the owner, contractor, architect, and other stakeholders
  • Comprehend how revisions in one document affect, or are reflected in, other AIA Documents.
  • Be able to describe the “Initial Decision Maker” (IDM) concept and understand the rationale for the IDM

Tuition for the Web seminar is $135 per site. One registration fee allows for group participation for colleagues in your office. The program provides 1.5 LUs/HSW for AIA members.

Participation in this seminar requires a telephone and a computer with Internet access; groups will need a projector and screen. To register for this Webinar, visit the virtual seminar Web site.
