Six Programs Receive Education Honor Awards
Curricula emphasize alignment with the future of the profession
Recognizing excellence in architecture education through classroom, studio, and community work, the AIA Education Honor Awards Program honors six programs for 2008. The power of design is demonstrated in these courses in terms of sustainability, community development, collaboration, and global reach, commented Jury Chair Joyce M. Noe, FAIA. “The six programs selected this year are in sync with and reflect many of the same priorities as the AIA,” she says.
Spring Is Coming—And So Is the New Handbook!
AIA Bookstore offers limited special offer for pre-buys
The Architect’s Handbook of Professional Practice, Fourteenth Edition, is arriving with the robins and warm sunshine and is just as welcome! With more than a third of it new content and significant revisions throughout, the AIA’s new Handbook, which will be available toward the end of March, reflects how all aspects of architecture practice reflect current business, legal, and technical trends. But don’t take our word for it—see a table of contents of what’s in the new Handbook’s 1,000 pages and read a sample chapter on the AIA Web site.
AIA Members Prepare for Advocacy Week Meetings
Advocacy Week is March 24-28. Are you ready?
The AIA Board Advocacy Committee and the national component announced the inaugural Advocacy Week on February 20 at the Grassroots Leadership and Legislative Conference. AIA components have been asked to organize meetings with members of Congress in their congressional districts during the next congressional recess, which takes place March 24–28, when AIA members will put forth three key AIA legislative “asks.”
AIA Names 13 Distinguished International Architects as Honorary Fellows of the Institute
The AIA is pleased to announce the 13 architects named Honorary Fellows of the Institute. Honorary Fellowship is bestowed upon architects of esteemed character and distinguished achievements who are neither U.S. citizens nor residents of the United States and who do not primarily practice architecture within the domain of the Institute. The AIA Honorary Fellowship program was developed as the international counterpart to the Fellowship program. Election to Honorary Fellowship not only recognizes the achievements of the foreign architect as an individual, but also elevates before the international public and the profession a model architect who has made a significant contribution to architecture and society on an international level.
