Members of the AIA Executive Committee, the Council of Architectural Components Executives (CACE) Executive Committee, and AIA national staff send you greetings from the nation’s capital as they assemble to launch the 2008 Grassroots Leadership and Legislative Conference with a wave and salute to the AIA members they serve. The annual conference brings together people from the many parts of the AIA—components, knowledge communities, and special members’ groups—to share their specialized knowledge and work toward common goals. AIA Calls on Members for Year-Round Advocacy
National poll suggests AIA members can educate public
To build on AIA successes on key public policy issues at the end of 2007, the AIA Government Advocacy team unveiled a strategy of year-round advocacy that values patience and perseverance in the political arena. This program comes at the same time a nationwide poll of voters suggests that architects are positioned to take leadership roles on issues that affect the built environment and their practices.
Three to Receive Inaugural AIA Associates Award
A jury has selected three outstanding individuals as the recipients of the new AIA Associates Award. Formerly known as the Associate of the Year Award under the jurisdiction of the National Associates Committee (NAC), the AIA Board of Directors last year approved a request from the NAC to elevate the stature of the award to one of the Institute Honors for Professional Achievement awards. The recipients will be recognized at the 2008 AIA National Convention and Design Exposition in Boston this May.
Graves to Serve as Honorary Chair for AIAS “Beyond Architecture” Campaign
Halfway there, the AIAS has secured $1 million in commitments
The American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) announced on February 7 that Michael Graves, FAIA, will serve as honorary chair for its Freedom By Design™ national community service initiative and the association’s Beyond Architecture Campaign. The goal of the campaign is to raise at least $2 million to support membership and program goals for Freedom by Design and premier educational initiatives for architecture students. |
