RUDC to Explore Sustainable Communities and Planning
Join the AIA Regional and Urban Design Committee at its fall conference, “Sustainable Communities: How Healthy Is Your Region?” November 1–3 in Salt Lake City. Conference participants will examine current trends in regional planning and explore multilateral opportunities for regional planning and design among allied professionals. The AIA RUDC is partnering with AIA Utah, American Planning Association Utah Chapter, American Society of Landscape Architects Utah Chapter, Envision Utah, Urban Land Institute Utah District Council, University of Utah College of Architecture and Planning to produce this conference. Tours will include Moshe Safdie’s Salt Lake City Library. Participants may earn up to 17 (15.5 HSW) AIA Continuing Education System learning units (LUs) for attending the entire conference.

AIA, DBIA Present Advanced Workshops
The AIA and the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) have teamed up to present “Advanced Design-Build Strategies for Architects,” a seminar directed at architects and offered in eight cities across the country for 2007, including one in Orlando on November 16. The program will be taught by two leading experts on design-build: Dorwin A.J. Thomas, FAIA, DBIA, an architect who served as chair of the AIA Design-Build Advisory Group in 2004 and 2005, and Craig H. Unger, DBIA, past president of DBIA National and a former Federal Bureau of Prisons executive. For details on this session and others, visit the workshop Web site.
