Centerbrook Architects Work Their Magic at U of Colorado/Denver Medical Library

Centerbrook Architects and Planners, Centerbrook, Conn., has a $35 million medical library under construction at the developing 227-acre Fitzsimons Campus of the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center. The 113,000-square-foot medical library will be the “front door” to the new campus and support a wide range of medical research. The campus constituency includes: the medical, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, and graduate schools; the University of Colorado Hospital; and a number of nearby research institutes. The three-floor library will provide full access to the public on the first floor and become increasingly private (and quiet) on upper floors. It will offer reference services, a reading room, classrooms, a learning resource center, systems database support, education and health information support, the History of Medicine rare book collection, and administrative offices. Upper floors also include a variety of team study spaces, several of which are on outdoor terraces. The Davis Partnership of Denver are the architects of record. The library is a year away from completion.
