Senior project manager, architectural and engineering services
Montclair State University, Upper Montclair, N.J., is seeking a senior project manager who will perform the following tasks: Capital project coordination and management from conception through planning/programming/budgeting, funding, consultant selection, design, bidding, construction, and occupancy to project closeout. Provides project management services for University capital projects. On a project-by-project basis: develops program statement, scope of work and specifications, and monitors scheduling, expediting, and progress in construction phase of capital projects. Coordinates with other university offices during the entire project delivery process. Acts as liaison with the N.J. Department of Community Affairs, Department of Environmental Protection and other regulatory agencies. Supervises architects, engineers, and contractors. Must have knowledge of the construction industry and all N.J. applicable codes and regulations. Works as a team leader with Montclair State University's end user to deliver capital improvement projects within budget and schedule, while meeting the programmatic requirements of the project.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or related field and 12 years of professional experience, or master's degree with 10 years of experience. Strong experience and proven ability to assume single-source responsibility—particularly in construction phase of capital project—is required. In addition, the position requires excellent verbal, written, and communication skills for report writing, spreadsheets, schedules, and AutoCAD. A combination of education an/or experience in higher education will be considered. Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute indicated experience on a year-for-year basis. Project management experience in similar university environment, as well as experience and knowledge on AutoCAD, CAFM, GIS, and other computer software related to facilities planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance, space management, etc., will receive favorable consideration.
