Elections for the Institute’s 2015 First Vice President/2016 President-elect, two 2015–2016 Vice Presidents, and 2015–2016 Secretary were held on June 27 at AIA Convention 2014 in Chicago.
2015 First Vice President/2016 President-elect
Russell A. Davidson, FAIA, Elected 2015 First Vice President/2016 President-Elect
President of AIA New York State in 2007, Davidson joined the AIA National board in 2009, and served as AIA Vice President from 2012–2013.
2015–2016 Vice Presidents
William J. Bates, AIA, Elected 2015–2016 AIA Vice President
Bates has served the AIA as president of AIA Pennsylvania not once, but twice, in 1991 and 2011. In addition, he helped to organize the original Prince Charles-helmed Remaking Cities Conference in Pittsburgh in 1988, and the sequel event 25 years later, in 2013.
Francis M. Pitts, FAIA, Elected 2015–2016 AIA Vice President
Pitts was elected president of AIA New York State in 2010. With the National Component of the AIA, Pitts served as a Regional Director on the Board from 2011 to 2013.
2015–2016 Secretary
John A. Padilla, AIA, Elected 2015–2016 AIA Secretary
After being elected as president of his local and state component in New Mexico, in 2010 Padilla was elected AIA National Vice President. A strong proponent of professional diversity, Padilla helped develop the AIA’s Shadow an Architect program, which exposes school children from underserved communities to architecture and design.
