Although several industry systems address operating energy, none simply quantify embodied energy, until now. EPA Lifecycle Challenge Reduces Demolition Debris
In its inaugural Lifecycle Building Challenge competition, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recognized cutting-edge green building ideas that aim to reduce environmental and energy impacts of buildings. Ideas from the design contest will jumpstart the building industry to help reuse more of the 100 million tons of building-related construction and demolition debris sent each year to landfills in the United States. On Being Native and Oneness

Part of AIA/COTE’s mission is to promote best practices for architects. This means promoting best practices for today, primarily through our Top Ten Green Projects awards program and its learning and teaching tools (Web site, PowerPoint presentation, boards). But an equally important role for us is to promote best practices for the future. We want to help members explore what’s next for designers and the industry through permaculture, biophilia, environmental psychology, next-generation postoccupancy evaluations, and biomimicry.
