The spirit of making connections between people, places, and ideas resonates throughout the profession of architecture. In fact, the nature of design is all about making connections. From the very first step in understanding a project's scope to the very last step in making the project a viable reality, the work is about making connections that help build a better future.
This year at the AIA 2012 National Convention and Design Exposition, we are focusing on the value that making strong professional connections can have for you and for the profession as a whole. You can think of this as a national forum to meet in-person and discuss the topics that matter most to your career.
Through seminars and workshops, you will have the opportunity to engage with colleagues from around the country and the world. And you'll have the chance to meet exhibitors showcasing the latest technologies and materials—important information and contacts to support your work.
The 3-day event is also a cost-effective and convenient way to reconnect with your inner student. Ongoing education sessions are scheduled throughout and cover a range of topics to suit your interests. Find new inspiration, rekindle your passion for the field, and complete continuing education requirements all at the same time.
The theme this year, Design Connects, implies that in a world of individuals, we are actually stronger when we reach across boundaries and form as a collective. Design has the power to bring us together. Please come be a part of the interaction.
We'll look forward to connecting with you in Washington, D.C., this May.
Sincerely,
Jeff Potter, FAIA
