The American Institute of Architects is pleased to announce that we are currently accepting nominations for the 2013 Gold Medal and Architecture Firm Award.

The American Institute of Architects is currently accepting nominations for the 2014 Gold Medal and the 2014 Architecture Firm Award. Each year, these honors recognize outstanding contributions to the architecture profession by an individual and by a firm.

We truly value your input and encourage your participation. Please consider putting forth a nomination for an architect, a firm, or both.

Nomination process

The Gold Medal and Architecture Firm Award Advisory Jury will accept for review nominations made by

  • an AIA component
  • an AIA knowledge community
  • the Institute’s Board of Directors

The jury will also accept for review nominations made by petition from

  • five Fellows of the American Institute of Architects
  • any 10 AIA members in good standing
Gold Medal

This award is the highest honor bestowed on an individual by the American Institute of Architects. Since 1907, the Gold Medal has been awarded to those practitioners who have truly elevated the profession through a significant body of work of lasting influence—including Louis I. Kahn, FAIA, Renzo Piano, Hon. FAIA, and the 2013 recipient, Thom Mayne, FAIA.

Eligibility
Any individual, living or dead, and not necessarily an American or an architect, is eligible to receive the Gold Medal.

Architect Firm Award

This award is the highest honor that the American Institute of Architects can bestow on an architecture firm for consistently producing distinguished architecture. In recent years, the AIA has recognized firms such as KieranTimberlake Associates LLP, Pugh + Scarpa, and the 2013 recipient, Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects.

Eligibility
Any firm or successor firms, whether an individual or an organization of architects, in which the continuing collaboration among individuals of the firm has been the principal force in consistently producing distinguished architecture for a period of at least 10 years, is eligible for the award.

While serving on the Board of Directors, Board members and their firms are ineligible to be nominated for this award.
