On Oct. 21, the AIA released its annual 2030 Commitment 2014 Progress Report, covering gains in energy efficiency adoption among architecture firms in 2014. The report, the fifth put out by the AIA, examines the efforts of committed firms to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in over 51 countries. Data from 140 reporting firms were analyzed and graphed, with conclusions then shared as to how the profession is progressing in regard to energy usage in new projects around the globe.

Climate Resilient Design in the Southeast

This daylong educational program at the U.S. Cellular Center in downtown Asheville, will offer architects and building design professionals an understanding of the latest on climate science and opportunities to reduce vulnerability through mitigation and adaptation.
Presenters for the course include Dr. Thomas Carl Peterson, an internationally recognized climate scientist who has spoken extensively on the science of climate change and how it affects everyday endeavors.
