Fallingwater: The Story of a Country House
In this, the last installment in this series on the best-known American country house, Jim Atkins, FAIA, and his wife, Dr. Sook Kim, travel to Bear Run in western Pennsylvania to experience the magnificently maintained and recently restored country retreat designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, now open to the public thanks to the diligence of the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy.

President Malecha: Socialization of Information
In a videotaped address to the AIA membership, President Marvin Malecha, FAIA, talks about how the “socialization of information” is transforming everything architects do. “We ignore it at our peril,” he says. “If architects don’t take a leadership role, others will fill the gap.”

Robert Lopez,
is executive secretary for the New York State Board for Architecture and the State Board for Landscape Architecture in Albany, N.Y. These boards assist and advise the state’s Board of Regents and Education Department in regulating 48 professions responsible for the health, safety, and welfare for New York citizens, which includes more than 15,000 architects residing both in and out of New York State.
