Six Teams Tapped for World Trade Center Design Study
Plans to rebuild the World Trade Center moved another step forward September 26 as redevelopment officials tapped six architecture teams to take part in a design study of the World Trade Center complex. The Lower Manhattan Development Corporation (LMDC) announced that it had selected some of the world's "most talented architects and planners," including two individual firms and four collaborative groups from a pool of 407 submissions representing 34 nations. Dalquist and Lutzow Design New Soccer Facility in Loves Park, Ill.
Sportscore II is the new pride and joy of Loves Park, Ill. (a suburb of Rockford), thanks to Dalquist and Lutzow Architects Ltd.'s handicraft. The new facility, designed by AIA Illinois' 2001 Distinguished Firm of the Year, offers 11 new fully irrigated fields, remodeled indoor sports center building, new 4,000-square-foot concession stand, new observation deck, and an additional 482 parking places. In its inaugural weekend, Sportscore II hosted 300 soccer teams for a major seeding tournament. In addition to soccer, the facility hosts volleyball, basketball, rugby, wheelchair athletics, and sports meetings and conventions.
