AIA Ad Campaign Ready to Roll
Flight of Radio and Magazine Ads to Launch September 16
Get architects into the mix at the conceptual outset of any project; architects add value to homes, schools, hospitals, government buildings, commercial development, and communities overall; and AIA membership is a crucial credential. These are the messages that the radio and magazine advertising will take to the public beginning September 16. Full Story

Work-on-the-Boards Survey
Business Conditions Continue to Ease in August
AIA Chief Economist Kermit Baker, PhD, Hon. AIA, reports that billings at U.S. architecture firms declined slightly in August, as for the second straight month a soft spot in the economy is slowing construction activity. The good news is inquiries for new projects have not weakened in recent months, and merger and acquisition activity remains strong at firms. Full Story

Local Architects Honored at Chapter Gala

Remembering September 11
Washington, D.C., is a town usually aflutter with flags but never more so than on September 11, 2002. Here the General Services Administration building, across the street from the AIA national component headquarters building, sports a 60-foot-long Star Spangled Banner to commemorate the day. In the past year, the AIA and GSA have been working together closely on building-security issues both directly and through The Infrastructure Security Partnership, formed shortly after the 9/11 attacks last year.
