	Hot Off the Presses The Graphic Standards Guide to Architectural Finishes: Using MASTERSPEC® to Evaluate, Select, and Specify Materials, by ARCOM and The American Institute of Architects (edited by Elena M.S. Garrison, AIA, CCS, CSI; John Wiley & Sons, 2002). This new book, available from the AIA Bookstore, combines the text of MASTERSPEC and the drawings of Architectural Graphic Standards to create a unique reference for specifying interior finishes. Full Story Scientists Work with Architects on a Research Agenda An interdisciplinary assembly of 28 architects and neuroscientists explored potential connections between study of the mind and creation of the built environment at the "Healthcare Facilities Design and Neuroscience Workshop," August 13–15 in Woods Hole, Mass. 	September 11, Marking a Time for Reflection Although it is still hard to find the right words, on the advent of the first anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, we join the nation in remembrance. This schedule gives you pertinent information about the Institute's national awards program. Full Story FROM OUR FRIENDS AT AIA MONTEREY BAY AIA Monterey Bay, in collaboration with Monterey County and the cities of the Monterey Peninsula, invites all to take part in the "Concepts: Housing Solutions for Our Communities" international housing design competition for Monterey County, Calif. The purpose of the competition is "to stimulate ideas for the creation of new housing in the Monterey Bay region and create new housing models for the nation." Multidisciplinary teams are encouraged to submit entries, which are due October 31. Phase One winners will receive cash honorariums to develop their housing solutions during Phase Two.
