New Decade, New Look and Feel for AIArchitect

The AIA is rethinking member communications. Starting in January, AIArchitect is being rebuilt from the ground up, with an ear to the membership and commitment to the core values of design. The new AIArchitect will offer:

  • A place for stories about how design strengthens communities and quality of life
  • Tips and tools to navigate the changing design and construction economy
  • A flexible platform with targeted, customized content based on members specific professional interests
  • A place for online community building tools
  • An opportunity for quality education programs that make it easier to grow as a professional designer and maintain your license.

In short, it’s responding to your calls for fewer—but more focused—members communications from the AIA.

As we work toward these changes in 2010, the AIArchitect you’ll see next will also focus on the most urgent and important news from across the AIA—as well as vital news, practice, and design coverage from the full spectrum of the design and construction media. It will begin integrating many AIA member publications to create a unified place for member communications. Readers will soon be able to come to AIArchitect for news on Knowledge Communities, state and local components, emerging professionals, and advocacy.

The first redesigned edition will be sent the week of January 11 and will be published biweekly in a quick-read, headline-only format centered on news and resources from across the AIA. In the next edition, look for the 2010 AIA Honor Awards winners, an ideal demonstration of the AIA’s 2010 theme—design matters.

Send us links to activities or programs you are involved with so we can begin to truly demonstrate the full range of contributions you and your firm or AIA Component are making. Send your ideas and comments to aiarchitect@aia.org. We look forward to working with you.
