Economic Forecast for the Fourth Quarter of 2009
“The Year Ahead for Construction: A Perfect ’10?” is the question of the year tackled by the free Reed Construction Data Web seminar schedule for October 22. Chief economists from the AIA, AGC, and Reed Construction—Kermit Baker, PhD, Hon. AIA; Ken Simonson; and Jim Haughey, respectively—will provide an overview of their expectations of the year to come in this free Web seminar that can qualify AIA members for 1.5 AIA CES learning units.

How to Be an Effective Partner in a Contractor Led Entity: Learning Opportunities for Architects

Time: 2–3:30 p.m. EST
In previous sessions this year and last, the AIA Design-Build Knowledge Community focused on architect-led design-build. In reality, the majority of design-build projects in the U.S. are contractor-led. This session explores how an architect can be an effective partner in a contractor-led entity and how the architect can turn this experience into a learning opportunity, better equipping the architectural firm to take the lead on subsequent projects. The session offers 1.5 LUs.

How to Make In-Roads into Government Design-Build Projects

Time: 2–3:30 p.m. EST
The last segment of the 2009 Design-Build Web Seminar series, this session will highlight the challenges, the solutions and the successes of Government Design-Build projects. Through case examples and references from the experiences of providers and government users of design-build services, learn how Design-Build plays a role in the government sector. The session offers 1.5 LUs.
