  John W. Rogers Elected Treasurer

John W. Rogers, AIA, ACHA, AIA Cincinnati, has been elected AIA 2010-2011 treasurer. His national AIA experience includes serving on the Board of Directors, 2007-2009; Finance & Audit Committee; Risk Management Committee; Governance Task Force; Outsourcing Offshore Task Force; Historic Resources Committee; and Academy on Architecture for Health, and as chair of the International Committee.

“I am honored to be elected to serve as the AIA treasurer, Rogers says.” I have been a member of the AIA for more than 25 years and have held many leadership positions that have had financial connections. I have been treasurer at various levels of the AIA, as well as other organizations where I have left them in a stronger financial position. I am currently in my third year as a Board director and am a member of the Finance & Audit Committee. I plan to provide leadership that promotes stability, value, and transparency.”

On stability, Rogers vows to continue policies that foster economic growth. “The financial impact of the 21st Century Workplace is constantly monitored for both the short term and looking out at least 15 years to assure we do not have any financial surprises for members in the future. I pledge to pursue stability and growth.” Rogers believes the AIA must continue to create value for AIA members. On transparency, Rogers plans on regularly sharing the Institute’s financial information. “It is your money, and although the Board has fiduciary responsibility, I will be the conscience and voice for you, the members. I have a great passion to be the next treasurer of the AIA, and it will be a genuine honor to continue my service to the AIA.”

Rogers has served as regional director and treasurer for the AIA Ohio Valley Region; as AIA Ohio president, vice president, and president elect; on the Financial Advisory Committee; and as treasurer on the Investment Task Force. For the AIA Ohio Foundation, he served as the vice president, Art by Architects Fundraiser co-chair, and board member. For AIA Cincinnati, he served on the Board of Directors; as president, vice president, president elect, and secretary; on the Historic Resources Committee; and as co-chair of the Chapter Centennial Committee.
