EF 3.0 PLUS Contract Documents Spurs Converts
The latest version of electronic format (EF) contract document software—EF 3.0 PLUS—has inspired a wave of converts among current EF 3.0 users. Of the more than 9,500 users contacted directly by the AIA, more than 37 percent have chosen to upgrade to the new software, and that number is rising every day. Full Story

NOMA Conference: United We Design
October 15–17 set for 30th anniversary conference—The National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) is set to gather for its annual conference in Fort Lauderdale this fall, eager to welcome a wider diversity of nationalities and races into its fold. To further its efforts, NOMA is seeking to expand its reach through its conference program, which will focus on "Globalization," the theme of the group's 30th international conference and exposition. Drought or flood, landscaping can make a difference. To work with water, a well-conceived landscape plan will include at least three strategic elements: the right plantings for your region; soil conditioning, ideally with compost; and a maintenance plan the owner understands and is able to undertake. Our research into how architects are transforming themselves into Integrated Service Providers is showing us both their challenges and the rewards. Reminder: Pentagon Memorial Entry Forms Due August 23!
Time is almost up to register for the Pentagon Memorial competition—all who wish to submit their ideas for the memorial to be built to honor both the Pentagon employees and airline passengers who died there September 11, 2001, must register by August 23. The memorial will be built on the grounds of the Pentagon. The competition entry deadline is September 11. Submissions must follow a specific format, as outlined on the competition Web site. The quickest way to obtain information and register for the competition is at the Web site. The form is very simple and takes minutes to fill out. The competition is open to everyone worldwide. There is no entry fee. (Pictured is the Pentagon before the September 11 attack; the memorial will be placed in the foreground.)
