  Housing Symposium to Tackle Innovations for Affordability
Advance registration closes September 19
Join the Housing and Custom Residential (H&CR) Knowledge Community, the Association for Community Design, and AIA Arizona on October 3–5 in Phoenix for “Innovations and Collaborations in Housing Affordability,” a symposium focusing on innovative and collaborative efforts that are tackling housing affordability and creating thriving residential developments and communities. Presentations and workshops at the symposium will address topics such as mixed-income developments, design and advocacy, sustainable and inclusive design for affordable housing, and housing design education in the schools, among others. A half day of tours to residential sites that illustrate the ideas and issues covered in the symposium will take place on the final day. Design-Build Knowledge Community Offers Webinar on D-B Contracts, Risk Management
The Design-Build Knowledge Community is offering the “Design Build Contract Forms, Legal Risks, Legislation and Roles” Web seminar on September 16, 2:00–3:30 p.m. ET. Bill Quatman, Esq., FAIA, DBIA, 2007 chair of the AIA Design-Build Knowledge Community, and an architect and attorney with the law firm of Shughart Thomson & Kilroy in Kansas City, Mo., and Barry Bannett, CEO of the Bannett Group Ltd., a design-build firm in Cherry Hill, N.J., will serve as the speakers for the event.
