AIA EVP/CEO Chris McEntee Presents the “State of the Institute”

“If I had to give a quick summary of where the organization stands at the beginning of our 151st year, I’d use three words: ‘pretty darn good!’” says AIA Executive Vice President/Chief Executive Officer Christine McEntee in her 2008 State of the Institute address. With record membership and strong financial position, “the AIA is ahead of the targets we’ve set for ourselves in our long-range financial plan.” The currency of the 21st century, however, is knowledge, and the AIA must be the gold standard when it comes to knowledge about and for AIA members. The obvious question, McEntee says, is: Knowledge about “what?” In adopting the AIA’s Strategic Plan, the AIA Board looked at the “what” and “how” of modern architecture practice and came up with three priorities.
