  Join AIA Continental Europe in Athens This Spring

Summary: AIA Continental Europe invites you to take part in the “Athens: Ecology + Environment + Architecture” conference, April 10-13, in Athens, Greece. This international conference will deliver a message about “walking the walk” on green design through internationally acclaimed keynote speakers and world-acclaimed documentaries, a green buildings exhibition, and guided tours within the rich historic context of Athens.


Ecoweek, a non-governmental organization based in Aegina, Greece, is serving as the organizing partner for the conference. Also lending support and participating are the British Council, the embassies of Sweden and Denmark, One Planet Living, the American School of Classical Studies, Archi-World, The Community Solution, Earthome Productions, the Technical Chamber of Greece, and the International Union of Architects International Work Program Architecture and Renewable Energy Sources.

Among the conference’s distinguished speakers are:

  • Architect and green skyscraper specialist Ken Yeang, Malaysia
  • Landscape designer Julie Bargmann, DIRT Studio, Charlottesville, Va.
  • Noted “local” architect Alexandros Tombazis, Athens
  • BedZED London director Benjamin Gill, BioRegional (BedZED is a zero carbon emissions development in London).
